Snowboard Maintenance

Your snowboard will perform better and you’ll get more out of it if you maintain it after you snowboard. Here is some advice on what you can do to get the most out of your snowboard.

After every snowboarding session, make sure to repair any abrasions or nicks on your board as soon as you can. This will prevent any further damage of your snowboard and dramatically increase the life of your board. You can find repair kits at your local board shop or online.

If you ever get the chance it’s a good idea to sharpen the borders of your snowboard as this will make it smoother for you to turn your board. Most shops offer this service as well as sell tools for the do-it-your selfer.

Apply a fresh coat of wax whenever possible to your snowboard by first removing the old wax. There are several types of waxes for you to use and two types of methods you can apply them with. The hot wax method works best on a snowboard that feels like sandpaper against the snow while cold works best before a shred run. Wax makes your snowboard much more efficient on the snow and will protect the board from all the clashing the snowboard generates from making contact with the snow.

A sign of a knowledgeable pro is one who has a towel to dry his snowboard after a snowboadring session. Dry your snowboard and your bindings after each run to prevent water damage and to extend the life of your equipment. You’ll extend the life of your board by keeping it dry and it will last you much longer.
